Attracting new customers through building an online presence

The challange

Brian and Jill, the owners of Rye Red Cottage, were about to embark on an adventure with the grand opening of their new establishment. They needed to hit the ground running by quickly attracting new customers, a goal we were determined to help them achieve. To meet this challenge, we needed to create an online presence by building a new SEO-driven website and taking advantage of social media.

The Solution

We worked closely with Brian and Gill to produce a website that would give Rye Red Cottage the best possible start. As Rye is a popular tourist destination, it was vital to ensure that the bed and breakfast stood out against the competition. We focused on Rye Red Cottage’s unique qualities to build an online presence that is aesthetically pleasing, informative and effective.

With the room renovations finished, we now needed to capture video and photos of the space. This visual imagery would become an essential element of the website — helping to give customers the confidence to make a booking. We put more emphasis on video as we felt that it showcases the rooms more effectively than photography.

Once the website was complete, we began implementing SEO strategies to ensure that it performed well in search engine results. Additionally, we produced numerous pieces of content to promote the business via their new Instagram account.

The Results

Rye Red Cottage saw a substantial increase in direct bookings following the launch of the new website. It allowed them to spend less and rely less on 3rd party sites (such as booking.com) which take a fee of between 10% – 20% per booking.

In addition, booking direct has allowed them to offer better value to customers with terms more suitable to Rye Red Cottage’s needs and includes the ability to market to previous clients.
